ECSQ Plays Beach, Roumain & Beethoven
After what felt like a slow slow January, we blinked and February is more than half way done! Luckily it’s because we’ve been keeping ourselves busy with rehearsals, since we are now a little under a month out from our next tour - Beach, Roumain & Beethoven. This is a fantastic program, featuring late Beethoven, Amy Beach’s only string quartet, and Daniel Bernard Roumain’s powerful Quartet No. 5, dedicated to the memory of Rosa Parks and courageous women everywhere.
Tickets are available now! As a heads up to folks in Moncton & Florenceville-Bristol, we’ve had some slight changes to our dates for the remainder of the year. If you were at our first Moncton concert this season, you might remember that we performed on the first floor — we’re making the move to Wednesday evenings in order to avoid some of the sound crossover from their weekend concert bookings up in Salle Bernard-LeBlanc. This way we’ll be able to continue to have our shows on the 2nd floor! For folks in Florenceville-Bristol, our friends at Second Wind suggested weekends were a better fit for folks traveling from outside of town, so we made the switch! If you’re a pass holder and can no longer make the new dates, please reach out by email and we will issue you a partial refund.

Announcing this year’s guest artist!
We are thrilled that this year we will be working with acclaimed guitarist, Adam Cicchillitti! Adam is a friend of Mark’s from their university days, and we are pumped to perform some guitar quintets with him.
Adam Cicchillitti is a Juno-nominated guitarist from Montreal, praised by Classical Guitar Magazine as “a virtuoso at the top of his game.” He performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician, appearing with ensembles such as the Orchestre classique de Montréal, and has toured extensively across North America and Europe. His recordings on Analekta, ATMA Classique, and Leaf Music have received critical acclaim, including a Juno nomination for Classical Recording of the Year and an East Coast Music Award award for Focus.
Adam has earned second and third prizes at the International Ensemble Competition of the Guitar Foundation of America, won the Canimex Concerto Competition, and been a finalist and multiple prizewinner in numerous national and international competitions. Alongside his performing career, he is deeply committed to expanding the guitar repertoire, having commissioned over 30 new works for solo, duo, and chamber guitar since 2019. He holds a doctorate from McGill University and teaches at Mount Allison University.
Folks in Fredericton: Upcoming Più Concert - Friday Feb. 27
As some of you may remember, last year Emily & Mark soft launched a side project called Più. It’s a small concert series based in Fredericton where we can present some musician friends and artists other than ourselves! We recently announced this year’s series, and our first concert is coming up next week at Gallery 78.
The first show features Honolulu-based guitarist and composer Jessica Ackerley, and Halifax saxophonist Andrew MacKelvie. Both are acclaimed artists whose work straddles the classical and jazz worlds, and it’s pretty special that they are stopping by Fredericton during their east coast tour. It will be an intimate show, and seating is limited so we encourage folks to purchase tickets in advance!
