ECSQ Plays Greer, Turina & Debussy

And we’re back! Spring is here and May will arrive before we know it — and with it, our next tour!

SO so looking forward to premiering a brand new quartet, written especially for us by award-winning composer Zachary Greer! Zachary is a Fredericton-based composer who regularly writes for film, television and digital media — his scores have been featured at major festivals including tiff and SXSW, and broadcast/streamed on major networks like CBC and Crave, and this past fall his score for the documentary Into The Fray earned him a 2025 Canadian Screen Music Award for "Best Original Score: Documentary.” We’ve been workshopping Zach’s new piece since the fall, and we can’t wait to share it with you!

This show will also feature Debussy’s stunning string quartet, as well as Turina’s “La Oración Del Torero.” More on these pieces in a few weeks, but we wanted to remind you that tickets are available now!

Fredericton: Upcoming Cello Duo Concert - Next Friday, April 17th

As some of you may remember, last year Emily & Mark soft launched a side project called Più. It’s a small concert series based in Fredericton where we can present some musician friends and artists other than ourselves! We recently announced this year’s series, and our second concert is coming up next week at Gallery 78.

The concert features our 2024 guest artist, India Gailey! India is recording a new album of cello duets, and is touring the pieces around the Maritimes before the album comes out. The Fredericton show is the first of the tour, meaning this will be the world premiere of 7 new cello duets! Another fun tidbit — Emily from the ECSQ is one of the featured composers, and the show will feature the premiere of her new cello duet Triptych.
